Useful information

Registration/front desk at MiniDebConf Curitiba 2018

Time Zone

Campinas is in UTC -3, the same time zone as Brasília.

Accessibility

All rooms at the Institute of Computing at UNICAMP are accessible to wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility. Unfortunately, we will not have LIBRAS (Brazilian Sign Language) interpreters.

Transportation

In Campinas, there is the Viracopos Airport and an intercity bus station. There are several roads in the region, almost all in good condition. Some of the most important are:

The use of ride-hailing apps is common. Just be aware that UNICAMP is located in the Barão Geraldo district, a little far from the center of Campinas.

Bus Station → Hotel

If you are going from the Campinas bus station to the event hotel, you can choose to call a ride-hailing app/taxi or take public transportation.

We suggest using a ride-hailing app or taxi for greater comfort.

Viracopos → Hotel

If you are going from Viracopos airport to the hotel, transport options are more limited. The airport is quite far from the city center (and UNICAMP), so you will spend more if you want to call a ride-hailing app or taxi.

We suggest using a ride-hailing app or taxi for greater comfort. Be aware and do not accept offers from people in the arrivals area! Only use licensed taxis or cars called directly through the app.

CGH/GRU → Hotel

If you are coming from Congonhas (CGH) or Guarulhos (GRU) airports, the best option is to use the Lirabus shuttle, which will drop you off at the Campinas bus station. From there, follow the instructions above to get from the bus station to the hotel.

Check the bus departure times. Choose your origin airport in the tab (remember that “Cumbica” is the old name for Guarulhos airport). The table can be a little confusing: it only lists the bus departure times from each location.

The bus coming from CGH/GRU stops first at Largo do Pará in Campinas, but we suggest you disembark at the Campinas bus station.

Hotel

Due to the proximity to the venue of the event, the hotel chosen by the organization for accommodation scholarships was Casa do Professor Visitante (CPV), located within UNICAMP itself. The hotel has free parking, restaurant, 24h reception with service in Portuguese, Spanish and English, among other amenities.

It is possible to stay at the hotel paying privately. There are other options in the district of Barão Geraldo and in the center of Campinas. Contact us for assistance.

What are “BoFs”?

The old DebConf wiki gives us the following definition: “in the context of DebConf, most participants would interpret the word BoF in the historical sense of the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) meaning a discussion session among people interested in a specific topic. Other conferences use BoF to refer to improvised, unscheduled, and spontaneous events, while at DebConf we traditionally submit the program in advance, reviewed and scheduled as BoFs)” (adapted text).

Check the schedule of BoFs that will take place at MiniDebConf Campinas 2026.

What is MiniDebCamp?

Here’s what DebConf’s page says: DebCamp is the hacking session right before DebConf (…) It’s a week for Debian contributors to focus on their Debian-related projects, tasks, or problems uninterrupted (…) We will not have a regular schedule with talks, workshops, and BoFs during DebCamp.

During the MiniDebCamp will not be lectures, workshops and BoFs.
